I know how pull data from the database but I have stored within the a mysql field some text data. Within that that text I have put in some php variables. The problem is that when the browser renders the data that pulled from my sql, the variable stays as $user for example rather than changing to what I needed to. Is there any way to have the server process the php code stored within the mysql database?

A working knowledge of computer language is something that most people cannot grasp. Just tell them what they need to know in order to do a Google search or check their email and they will generally be happy. But there are a lot of intricacies that are involved in a simple search on the Internet or within a computer’s system for that matter. One of the main languages used in this science is called MySQL, which is a system used for data base management. The actual scientific language is simply SQL, which stands for “structured query language.” But MySQL is an actual brand of database that uses this language to create better database servers. The process of MySQL development requires a strong knowledge of computer systems and the language that they use.

The idea of MySQL development, which is pronounced just as each letter sounds individually, is to give the average computer user the ability to ask questions of a database and retrieve answers for those questions. This system not only allows us to ask the questions, but it is also vital in the creation of these databases. Each database is, in essence, a collection of tables. These tables are merely a list of records. Think of them as a weight chart when you are on a diet. You might keep track of your progress on a table. One column of the table may be marked “Date” and then the second column might be marked “Weight.” With this tool, you can keep track of how much you weighed on any given day. Businesses might use more complicated tables to keep track of payroll and employees. Simply stated, the rows in a database’s table contain stored data while the columns contain the particular kind of info that is stored. This is the basic principle behind MySQL development. Information is gathered into tables in order to be organized.

In addition to being a collection of tables, a database is basically information that fits into logical categories. This system operates on a relational database rather than a flat database system. The reason for this is because the relational database system operates much like the human mind does when it is thinking. The categories are organized by rows and columns so that different parts of information can be used for different tables. The actual MySQL brand specializes in creating databases for use by their customers on their individual websites. This type of computer language is know for its reliability and user-friendliness, although you need to have more than a basic knowledge of computers in order to understand the terminology and mechanics of MySQL development. It has been used in over ten million applications and websites and it is continually growing and improving. It also has several new security features.

Many companies specialize in MySQL development for their clients. Without this technology, search engines and, for that matter the entire Internet would be utterly useless. Its ability to string words together for purposes of creating a searchable query make companies like Google and Yahoo do what they do best; allow the user to search for information on the world wide web. Unless the novelty and usefulness of the Internet wear off, people who specialize in MySQL development will continue to have a lucrative job in the computer language and programming industry.

I want to add categories to a companies database. Based on another tutorial I made three tables:

companies
categories
lookup_category

lookup_category somehow stores the relationship between the other two, but the tutorial’s example code was full of errors and gaps, so I’m stuck.

What’s the most efficient/flexible way to add “a categories dimension” to a collection of records in MySQL? Can anyone give a stripped down working example without BS?

Thanks!

I used “mysqldump -A” to copy some databases out and then “mysql” to import them back into another server. This works ok but all the user logins and privileges are lost. Is there an easy way to move the users and privileges?

Thanks!

Cpanel is an easy to use interface for web maintenance. cPanel is the leading web hosting control panel available today. Even a user completely new to web hosting can easily manage his/her own website. With the Cpanel hosting interface, you’ll have complete control over your website. When looking for a hosting package, CPanel is also a good indicator of the reliability of the hosting provider. The most well known and reliable web hosts would normally provide web hosting plans that are powered by cPanel control panel. cPanel hosting plans that are on the market predominantly support PHP and MySQL, FrontPage, Fantastico and RVSkins.

With CPanel, you will have access to lots of useful stats such as disk usage and space, bandwidth usage and sub domains through cpanel. The current version of CPanel is CPanel 11 or CPanel X, which gives you full control of every aspect of your account. Hosting packages that come with CPanel are a very cost effective solution as they allow you to host multiple web sites under the same account. Another very useful program-Fantastico can be directly managed from the cPanel control panel. Essentially, what Cpanel does is that it condenses the dozens of commands needed to complete one task to a single mouse click. CPanel takes care of tedious and complicated tasks, such as a simple change to the content of your web page, password protecting portions of your web site, or deleting a table in one of your databases. All these can easily be done just by some minor input from the end users. For webmasters that require assistance on web building, certain hosting companies would also provide cPanel control panel that comes with a range of powerful online building tools. Customers can use these tools to create, configure and launch their website.

Other available control panels normally restricts your ability to manage your website to just the basic functions like creating email addresses, managing files and adding sub domain names. Cpanel provides much more than these basic tasks, allowing access to the more advanced functions, such as MIME types, cron jobs, OpenPGP keys, Apache handlers, addon domains, password protected directories and a lot more. For the basic users, CPanel still provide the typical program such as to add or remove email accounts, view website statistics, install different PHP / mySql scripts, get access to your online Web Mail and more. Some other functions of CPanel are to create a POP or default email account, autoresponder, subdomain, custom error pages. Users can also create an MySQL database PHPMyAdmin to manage databases, install FrontPage extensions, redirect a URL, redirect mail change, create an add-on domain, create a FTP account and to password-protect a directory. All these vast array of programs would normally come with tutorials to assist users especially newbies to ensure that using CPanel would be an ease.

In summary, CPanel is an integrated program that combines the requirements of basic to advanced users in one user-friendly interface. It definitely will save you a lot of time and hassle of completing your tasks manually. The best fact is that it is directly linked to Fantastico, enabling users access to a multitude of programs that are extremely useful for managing websites.

When you’re about to buy web space with the intention to resell it, you have to look at the software available in that web space. You need to know, for example, what web panel software the web host prefers. Reading up on different web panels will prepare you for the task of managing the reseller space you plan to buy. And if you plan on getting cPanel reseller hosting for the first time, you need to know at least why it is so popular.

Here are just some of the reasons why you should choose cPanel reseller hosting above the other obvious choices:

1. Ease of use. This is always the number one reason uttered by reseller space buyers and vendors alike. The main attraction of cPanel as a web integration software is that it has a pleasant and neat graphical user interface (GUI), similar to a Windows Explorer window set to display files as icons. This allows even people who are not familiar with web space management to be swiftly oriented to the demands of the task.

2. Multiple features. As with every computer program, an easy-to-use software that comes packed with useful features quickly wins hearts. When people use web panel software, they are looking for things that would make their lives easier, such as automated scripts. Automated scripts are commands that simplify complex tasks like backing up and transferring files and entire databases from one server to another. cPanel has plenty of such scripts. With the push of a single button, a user will be able to launch a series of complicated commands.

3. Security. Just because cPanel is easy to use, it doesn’t follow that it has a major downside – such as being easy to hack into. cPanel is recognized as a very secure web panel software, even if like all web panels, it does have its share of minor bugs. You will want security in your web management software, so that just any web-savvy stranger won’t be able to maliciously ***** your safeguards, steal your files and deface your websites. Among the many invaluable things that a secure web panel can offer, peace of mind is probably one of the most priceless.

If you’ve made up your mind to get cPanel reseller hosting for your first reselling account, know that you’ve made a wise decision, which millions of other satisfied users have also made. But feel free to try other web panels – true knowledge comes from one’s inclination to experiment!

an to become a MySQL professional, you should really consider obtaining one or more MySQL Certifications. Each certification requires that you pass one or more exams containing about 70 multiple-choice questions. The present cost of each exam is $200 but is sometimes discounted. This exam is available through the Pearson VUE test centers located virtually across the globe.

What do you get for passing these tests? The first answer is professional recognition. While certification is no proof that you can really perform on the job, doing the hard, hard work of certifying can help you prepare for the real world. Let’s be frank. If you only know your stuff on paper, you won’t know what to do on the job. Before long you’ll be pounding the pavement. In a community like certified MySQL professionals the word spreads fast.

In this article we look at your choices for MySQL Certifications. Companion articles will discuss each of these certifications in more detail. The CMA (Certified MySQL Associate) is an entry-level certification, designed for people who are relatively new to using the MySQL database server. This certification covers basic SQL and basic database management system concepts. While this certification is not a prerequisite to the other MySQL certifications many people new to MySQL start with CMA certification before going to the more advanced certifications. It’s up to you.

The CMDEV (Certified MySQL Developer) is targeted at candidates who will be developing applications using MySQL as back-end storage. It is issued to those who pass both the Certified MySQL Developer-I and Certified MySQL Developer-II exams. You may pass either of these two exams first; they cover different but complementary material.

The CMDBA (Certified MySQL Database Administrator) is targeted at database administrators who are responsible for tuning, planning, and optimizing data layout for one or several servers and who do not write many applications. It is issued to those who pass both the Certified MySQL DBA-I and Certified MySQL DBA-II exams. You may pass either of these two exams first; they cover different but complementary material. The CMCDBA (Certified MySQL Cluster Database Administrator) requires first obtaining the CMDBA certification and then passing a single exam associated with a very specific aspect of MySQL technology. You can be a professional MySQL database administrator and never deal with the material covered by this exam.

Several tracks are available to prepare for any and all of these certifications. For example, Sun MySQL offers books and classes at every level. Take my advice, don’t commit to anything more expensive than a book until you download MySQL and spend some serious time trying it out. One thing is sure; if you want to pass the test you must run MySQL hour after hour, day after day. If you don’t like that do something else.

My friend is leasing his own server for the first time, and he has given me a reseller account. I would like to run a web host off of my reseller account, but the server does not have the latest version of CPanel, PHP, or MySQL, nor does it have Python installed.

I do not have admin access to the server, but my friend does. He told me that he would upgrade all of these things for me if I could find out how. So here I am!

If somebody could provide some kind of instructions…is it done through WHM?

I have ordered a new server Centos 4.3 with Cpanel WHM 10.8.0 cPanel 10.8.2-R119.

When I have transfered old server all accounts to this new server, Some sites mysql database had a few problems. I found the new server is MySQL 4.1.xx and my old server is MySQL 4.0.xx. So i decide to downgrade MYSQL 4.1.X to MySQL 4.0.xx.

cPanel Tweak Settings only have MYSQL 4.1 or MYSQL 5.0 , so I vi /var/cpanel/cpanel.config,change mysql-version=4.1 into mysql-version=4.

then, you have to do the following:

cp -fr /var/lib/mysql /var/lib/mysql.old

rm -fr /var/lib/mysql

rm -f /usr/sbin/mysqld

/scripts/mysqlup—force

when installed mysql ,I found a problem.

when I was checking mysql logs , I found the problem was /etc/my.cnf. which needed to edit /etc/my.cnf with the edition of mysql 4.0.xx, such as
